It may be surprising that many cyber security breaches do not result from technical failures. In fact, it is commonplace for attackers to exploit the goodwill and trust of people to gain access to systems, using a form of attack that is known as ‘social engineering’. Pretending to be technical support personnel or crafting emails that ask for usernames and passwords are common forms of social engineering attacks. You may have heard the term ‘phishing’ used to describe these kind of emails. Phishing is a form of social engineering.

You might have heard about hackers, ” Phishing” is the same thing, what were to happen if you went to a website called www.facebook.com or www1.facebook.com do you notice the difference in the url’s just by looking at them I do.  You could have someone send you a link to Facebook in an e mail, and both those sites would identical the problem is that one is your real Facebook website and the second is an imposter, and guess what they look the same, but now the “Phisher” now has your login for Facebook and can take complete control of your account and you not know it.
